SLH HOA Members,
There are a couple of updates for the meeting that is coming up on February 12th.Â
First, we are looking for a couple of volunteers with audit and oversight experience or knowledge to give us an hour or two in helping us put in place appropriate processes for checks and balances in how our finances are overseen.
We have been fortunate that Andrew and our past Treasurers have stepped up and have done a great job of keeping our books clean and above reproach. As we grow our balance sheet, and to make it easier for the Treasurer to do their job without the burden of being second guessed, we want to establish those processes that are appropriate for oversight and audit of our financial dealings.
A couple of areas that we have already discussed and that we would like to work through are:
At what dollar level should we require multiple approvals for check that are drawn against our account? How does that work with e-banking?
Would these approvals be needed for repetitive billings (i.e. our annual landscaping bills)
Should we seek external audit of our books?
At what point do we need to maintain separate accounts for reserve funds that are required by law or vote?
These are some of the areas that we are going to establish controls over and we would like some insight from a couple of people with direct experience. we are imagining that the time commitment will be minimal and we would hope to get what we need in an hour or so of discussion. If you are willing to meet with us, let us know and we will get something scheduled.
Second, time truly does fly when you are having fun. After review, in addition to Andrew. it turns out that my term as President is also complete. Like Andrew, I am willing to be considered for continuing, but if there are other people that would like to step forward, please let us know so that we can get your names on the ballot..
Also, after years of helping out the HOA, Monique is stepping aside in her role on the ACC. Monique has given several years of service to the HOA and deserves all of our gratitude for the efforts that she has put forth.
Let us know if you are interested in getting involved and we will publish out the agenda for the meeting with ballots in the next week or so.
